Nice notes. I find the Palo Alto, Calif, cancellation on a Tennessee state stamp a bit odd. Also the L prefix on the $2 note indicates it was made in December of 1975. http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f1976_b.html
Little confused lol. Very new to obtaining notes. My banks around me have alot of coins I have searched so I'm learning new.
There are probably 49 others in sequence for the other states from the first day of issue of the 1976 $2.00 note on April 13, 1976.
$2 bills are pretty cool, however theres not much premium over spot if any my late fathering law had an envelope taped underneath a dress drawer that we discovered after his death almost a thousand dollars in $2 bills.
I guess I'm confused but I thought the "L" prefix indicated the San Francisco Federal Reserve District. Each of the 12 Federal Reserve District regional banks is designated by the following letters and numbers: City Letter Number Boston A 1 New York B 2 Philadelphia C 3 Cleveland D 4 Richmond E 5 Atlanta F 6 City Letter Number Chicago G 7 St. Louis H 8 Minneapolis I 9 Kansas City J 10 Dallas K 11 San Francisco L 12
You did good at that price. Putting a stamp and having the bill cancelled was a big deal at the time. It was the Bicentennial year so a great souvenir.
You are correct that the "L" denotes San Francisco, Calf. It also is the identifier for when they where made. http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f1976_b.html
