I've been wanting an imperial issue of Lucius Verus for awhile, and after @dougsmit mentioned the story (from Historia Augusta) about the emperor smashing cups in cookshops by throwing large coins at them, specifically a sestertius of his. As Doug pointed out, there's always the possibility the coin would be one of those that the emperor had used to make a nuisance of himself. Naturally, anything you might read in HA is of questionable veracity, but it's still an amusing story, and now I've got a nice coin to go with it . Personally, though, I think it more likely Verus would have used the sestertii of his stick-in-the-mud colleague Marcus Aurelius as his missiles of choice instead. Post your Lucius Verus coins! Especially if they look like they may have been used to break a cup. Terrific 'Bronze' examples---and the more likely culprit to be thrown at cups in cookshops... Mu examples are denarii and only likely to have been thrown at cups if he ran out of 'bronze ammunition' LOL
He would have had to have been a ghost to throw the Consecratio - not saying it isn't possible. Nice coins everyone.
Nice big pond skipper Z, details are awesome... I know i've posted these a couple other times.. Lucius Verus.. Markey Aurelius..

Z-Bro => that's a great new Lucky-V (congrats) Yah, this baby looks like it may have smashed a few things along its travels ...
Thanks, everyone, and for sharing your Lucius V coins. Have a good week ahead and don't break any cups .
