I collect the microchips in the new $100's. I carefully remove them and keep them in an old mason jar. I'm currently working on a mosaic portrait of Lincoln.
Although not convenient, U.S. bills starting form the 2004 editions have security threads visible through a U.V. light, it's a very secure way to check if the bill is counterfeit despite being somewhat of an inconvenience.
