I would lose the wood grain because they are copper coins. If you are set on woid, use a light maple. A cream or off-white would work best, a-la NGC.
I should have also mentioned (married to a red-green color blind dude who also has a bit of a problem with purple, so I'm used to commenting on colors), your red is a bit on the deeper maroon side and does not complement the red copper well. Red copper looks good in the black, but the cream/off white would show it off well too. I do prefer a neutral, though I've seen some use blues or greens for copper. A light grey might do okay too. In other words I would prefer a warmer toned off white first, then a cooler toned off white. But black is also very dramatic and nice too. And weren't there white Capital plastic holders too? Can still use that motif. And, I've lost track, is this all a virtual album, or are you going to use a real slab of wood and make holes for the air-tites to fit? I was under the impression an air-tite really was all that, unlike a slab that is not. Several posts above implied otherwise. If you do make a real wood slab, a darker wood would probably be more complementary to offset the copper. In any case, it's all a very nice look. And the nice thing about a digital album is you can change it up whenever you want.
Yes, this is virtual/digital. I could come up with a plan to use real wood and Air-Tites, but that would really stretch my abilities to work with wood. I can picture the process in my head, getting it right with my hands would be another thing. I'll stay within my current abilities for now. Besides using real wood would be a one off, virtually, the sky's the limit, and easy to change or add new photos/coins. I might do something else in white later.
I agree. The black background looks best. And, I'm glad the red idea was quickly abandoned. I *really* did not like that.
If you should try it in real wood, forstner bits would be a tremendous aid in cutting the holes. Steve
I actually didn't mind the solid (darker) red. None of the options shown looked all that bad to me, but the black is the best.
