I used a CAD program to print out a design pattern for the holes, then I made a wood template and used a router with a collar to cut the holes. I had to fine tune the process a little, but I finally figured it out. I have a vinyl cutter that I use to make the BioHazard symbols. So far I have tried out solid oak and MDF.
