Don't you just hate it when that happens? Anytime I receive any pocket change dated prior to 1959 (my personal cutoff), I know my ADHD won't let me spend it.
I don't have a particular date threshold, but I save nickels in general because it's a compulsion. I would've saved this one anyhow, because (a) it's an S mint and (b) it's still got luster. (Even some steps!) I don't remember the circumstances for this one, it's been in its current spot for quite a few years now...
I'm that way with quarters. I have several dozen quart/mayo jars filled. I haven't spent one in 35 years. My wife asked me why quarters, I told her that when I die does she want carry jars of quarters or pennies to the bank. She said thank you.
Yep, for a circulating 1933 coin it would have to be either a half or a cent. Those were strange and hard times.
