denomination pronunciation

    Allowing for regional variations in pronunciation, it was most definitely thrup'ney up here in Jockland. A guy from Colwyn Bay in Welsh Wales I used to work with also referred to them the same way. Mind you, I have heard them being referred to as thrip'nce or thrip'ney (that is, with the `i' pronounced as in `it') :)

    Yeah the vowel varies, Yorkshire tends to go for e.

    Everywhere else goes for u.

    as 'keena'.),which is divided into 100 Toea (pronounced as 'toyah'.).
