Heres the quarter next to a normal 1979 quarter- is worth anything? The front has the weird deformity but theres nothing on the back ehich is why I was wondering if it was an error coin-

    Any help is welcome!

The coin is normal, but has been damaged. Worth 25¢

But theres no damage to the back and the front balloons out and then indents- I dont understand how this damage would’ve happened without marring the back somehow?

It's been damaged by high heat/fire which has caused a delamination and bubble between the front clad and copper layer. Notice the black residue on the surfaces and scratches from cleaning. That's also an indication of high heat exposure.

Yes it would be call ( environmental damage) or PMD (post mint damage)as stated it is not a mint error. IMO

Heat damaged but put it with the other quarter and you have a total value of fifty cents.
