I have an interest in a silver coin being offered by a German auction house. In the description they use the term (Silber, subärat ?). I speak some German and understand the word Silber as meaning silver, but the next word with the question mark has me stumped. I have tried different translation programs but end up with confusing definitions. Surely some CT member who speaks German can come to my rescue.

This means the coin is plated/fouree or they think it might be(if the ? there is in the original listing).

Thank you, red_spork. That was the direction I was thinking.
