    The problem with the pre-Crawford editions of RSC-1 is that dating of the various issues has been largely superseded by Crawford and more current scholarship. That's not to say that Crawford is perfect in all dating, but most dealers/collectors will recognize Crawford dates. So, I would strongly recommend the 1978 edition of RSC-1.
