I say leave it alone, or find a cheaper material like copper plated steel for the cents, or nickel plated steel for the nickels. I&#039;m fairly certain doing that would make them profitable again. Since when has Canada doing something before us been a determining factor that we should do it also? LOL</p><p><br /></p><p>How about we increase the value of our money so that a cent or nickel could pay for itself instead rather than abolishing them because it&#039;s too costly to make them? McDonalds doesn&#039;t discontinue the cheeseburger because it costs too much to make, they raise the prices. event he post office raises prices when they need to, everyone does it. U.S. money doesn&#039;t have the buying power it used to, by why couldn&#039;t it again? </p><p>$100 in 1913 has the value of about $4 today. in other words wehat we buy with a $100 bill today cost under $4 in 1913. </p><p>&nbsp;We should just keep going down this path forever till a $100 is worth 1 cent in buying power?
