I know which banks are friendly in my town and I know which ones aren't. The tellers in the unfriendly bank are sneaky and lazy. They quote bank policy often and do as little as they can get away with. I don't keep accounts at those banks. I have accounts at the rest of the banks and the tellers are only too happy to bend over and kiss their own b***s to help me. Tellers are the first window into what a bank is like on the inside. You can use them to figure out what kind of bank you are dealing with. Just another perk of the coin collecting hobby I guess.
too true. i've grown up around banks because i loved to go with my grandfather to the bank. now, its a new item of concession to go and get coins. the tellers know me and my grandfather, so they are willing to help.
dealing with tellers work for cash department of a big company. and you will have to go to the bank everyday. you will know all those people there. and it is easier for you to ask a favor from them. i once worked for u.s.p.s. in queens, new york city. everyday, my supervisor sent me to nearby bank to change cash. i always got what i want for u.s.p.s. sometimes all rolls were new. sometimes half half. everyday?. are you kidding. i am not even want to see those coins in rolls. now i wish i still work for u.s.p.s. window clerk.
No offence taken I understand what is like to "be in the trenches" though not as a bank teller. Agreed. Back to coins
The bank I've gone to for seven or eight years was bought out maybe 2 years ago by Wachovia(or you guys might say Walk-all-over-ya). Surprisingly, the local staff didn't go, so they are very friendly and personable to me.
When I asked for an Ike Dollar at the local Bank, keep in mind that this is a small town Bank, If you want to knopw just how small, do a Google Search for Flagstaff AZ Population. It's no Tokyo. Anyway, I asked for an Ike Dollar which I knew they had, I saw it myself. They gave me a weird look, said that they didn't have any of those, upon which I said that I saw it in the drawer. Oh, that one they said, and we traded. There is just no repect for coin collectors these days is there
