I have had alot of negative experiences with dealers in my day. I used to live in Ohio and collected coins starting around age 10 or 12. I constantly got the "you arent important enough for me" type of responses and "you cant afford that coin so im not even going to show it to you". I always hated that. And I used to save my money and buy small collections in the $200-600 range and resell to dealers and I always got treated like crap. People often tried to take advantage of my age at the time and would also blow me off. Many dealers left a sour taste in my mouth. Not to say there werent and arent good dealers, I met several I really liked and took extra time with me and helped me out, but I would say the split of dealers had 35-40% of dealers being rude to me and having a negative impact on my view of dealers at the time. Eventually I started making a little more money and while I was in high school I was able to buy and sell alot more and actually make some good money buying and selling stuff as I upgraded my collection. At that point I was paid a LITTLE more attention but still got poorly treated because of my age. I still have somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth from some of the dealer experiences I had. I can understand sometimes why some people prefer to shop online when they have consistent negative experiences.
