On reverse, STATES OF AMERICA looks like doubling of some kind. Not getting my hopes up yet... Doubled die, machine doubling or ??? Thank you very much!
You see how the doubling in your pic is connect at both ends? Spread is the separation of two distinct images. The 1955 DD has a huge spread for example. Other varieties have more minor spreads but you can tell that they are two seperate letters whereas mechanical doubling is just the extension of the one letter. That had no spread. I was bummmmmmed lol. For some reason it is still hard for me to tell but reminding myself that I have to see that spread and that DD adds to the size of the lettering really helps!
