Congrats on your great year, David. Great selections.

My favorites are the sphinx, the "good spirit" (snake on horseback) and the lighthouse. I especially like your lighthouse coin. Thanks for your detailed description on the coin.

    Number one all the way.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper (I still do), so combining two of my favourite things in the world (coins & lighthouses) is just awesome!

I love sphinxes too, so that comes second.

Great list @David Atherton! What really amazes me is that despite the Flavian focus of your list (and overall collection of course) the variety of imagery and the stories behind the coins is remarkable. It's really hard to pick a favorite. I'd say the Pharos is a jewel of a coin to have in your collection, but than again, I can image that your unique civil war issue and of course the Domitian obol with the sphinx reverse can be qualified as gems too. And not to mention the Titus denarius from Ephesus... just WOW!

@David Atherton....What a wonderful specialised collection you have, it must have been very difficult to have shaved these down to 'Ten'!....
I've followed all your threads and have thoroughly enjoyed learning new aspects/rarity/historical points etc...Thanks!
As to picking favourites.....#7 Really appeals probably due to the strong portrait and obviously the unknown....#2 The "o" mint so clearly visible but also a stunning looking coin!....I'll have to go with your #1 The Pharos reverse, Wow! I just remember my History lessons at school with the "Seven Wonders of the World" and to actually hold a coin depicting one of these when it was actually still standing must be pretty amazing!......Congrats on an interesting collecting year and I do look forward to seeing what you acquire in this coming year..
