It's like the cheap 10x Chinese loupes sold on eBay that are simply relabeled as being 30x (or whatever). Most folks don't know the difference anyway, and "more" is always "better", right?

While there's nothing wrong with using such a thing to image coins, you should be aware of the facts/realities behind it. The one shot shows you've a 0.3mp sensor (exceedingly small by today's standards) that's interpolated to 2mp, and likely explains the issues with the previously posted images. Below is a quote from well-versed member with a basic description as well as a link that should be informative.

Additionally, and while I haven't bothered to reread the entire thing, this may be helpful as well...

Gonza, I am sure you are not a microscope specialist. I have taught college microbiology many years, and have used every type of microscope up to a
TEM and SEM. The companies that sell these USB type of scope "grossly exaggerate their capabilities. Looking at the specs and the small print.
The image sensor is only 0.3mp sensor, but the small print says it is interpolated to 2.0 mp, so this means for every 1 actual true point of image, the software adds about 6 more "made up, average point of image. It is the false imaging that makes the pixellated blocks on the photo. Most modern cameras are near 16-24 mp. Also they do not know the meaning of the word "resolution". Resolution refers to how close 2 things can be , and still seen as 2 separate individual points. They use it to refer to how big the image will be. They say their photo resolution is 2560x 1920, so now they have upped their idea to about 5mp. So the photo image is 5mp by their calculations, but the sensor can only see .3mp, so for every true pixwl detected, their software adds 14 fake ones. That is why people can see things that do not exist when photos are taken with a old fashion glass lens camera or microscope. It is not just just company, almost all do the "interpolation" trick.

    Nothing personal intended. Jim

You are right, friend Jim, I am not an expert in microscopes, or endoscopes, I bought it just because it was not worth much, I appreciate all the time it took to clarify and explain in detail what a poor quality team can do in photos. The information you provided is very good and I think it will serve me as well as someone else who wants to buy a low quality microscope or endoscope to take pictures of their coins read the description of the product well. This forum is very good and its community also because they provide a lot of information. Thanks from Puerto Rico
