    That depends - if you know & trust your seller you'd probably be OK. Many of these counterfeits were made of real gold of the right fineness and correct weight. Some of them were even good enough to fool the British govt. But most of them now have known diagnostics, at least for those who take the time to learn such things. So a truly knowledgeable seller would be able to identify them.
