Thanks. These are the sort of tips I was looking for. I think you talked me into those S-mints. I was thinking if I went with O-mints, I could keep it cheaper, but the S-mints look so much better as you mention, and the prices aren't bad in that year range. Ltrain, thanks for the CC info. I want to go with the best value for a CC 'type' coin.
1885 is a pretty easy year to find some really, really nice O's. One of the few years that New Orleans actually struck their coins fantastically. My DMPL O will be an 1885.
The 1895 example according to the price list quoted would be the high ticket item. Why the 1895 s is more than the o must be because of survivors, or some collect san francisco mint coins to create more demand.
I appreciate all the tips and pointers. I think I am going to have to hold off on this set for a while. I have several modern sets underway at the moment, and coin money is tighter than anytime in the past. Therefore taking this on is not in the cards for now. Thanks again! Dave
