Frederik IX. 5 kroner 1964, silver .800, weight - 17 g., mintage - 359000. "Wedding of princess Anne-Marie".
After that were was a new design that made HM look like an evil witch. The press totally panned the design, but they still use it for some reason.
Maybe HM liked it? Hard to imagine, I know, but I am sure they would not use a portrait of a king or queen without royal approval. Anyway, for newly designed coins they now use a different portrait of Queen Margrethe. Attached is an image of the "odd" effigy (which was used for the circulation coins, and also for the first couple of circulating 20 kroner commems), and one of this year's 20 kroner coin which has a different portrait. The actual coins have the same size of course ... Christian
I got this coin today. Frederik VIII. 2 kroner 1906, silver .800, weight - 15 g., mintage - 151000. UNC. It is a rather rare coin, ecpecially in that condition.
No it is not. During his visit in Hamburg, Frederik VIII went for a walk on a street and he died soon (his body was detected on a bench).
