The new design features the “Kong Frederik IX” Ferry, built at Elsinore Shipyard. When it was put into service on 16 December 1954 it was the world&#039;s largest ferry serving several routes between Denmark and Germany and across the Great Belt. In 1997 it was de-commissioned and for a few years it served as a museum ferry at Nyborg but in 2005, the ferry was eventually scrapped.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
