Damaged Bust Dime

    The obverse was cleaned to death and looks like she lost a rock fight. The reverse is not that bad. How does something like this happen? Jewelry piece?

    Good question...what's the rim look like? I don't see any obvious mounting points.

    Regardless, still a very attractive piece, & I'm not a big toner fan! :happy:

    I don't see any evidence that it was mounted in jewelry, either. I wonder what the obverse looks like under that toning. I'm not sure about the toning. NT? AT?

    Still is an attractive piece. I think @C-B-D has it right. Polished up for somebody’s album 75 years ago and re-toned in the album.
