Why are the letters lightly pressed in the area of the indentation and strong every where else? wouldn't it make sense that damage before the strike would cause this effect not after? if it was after the strike wouldn't the damage deform the letters and not cause a weak strike effect?

PMD. The letters look weak because they were struck by something that made that dent.
