Is this what collecting coins are all about.. I think so..Spent this morning like every Sunday at my parents home , visiting, catching up its a lovely Sunday.. When dad the sly old dog [emoji6]walks in with this box , knowing I'm interested in the coin, says have a look.. He's kept it close to him for decades!! Bless him.. A glint in his eye," few blinders in there son" Those who are lucky enough to experience having a relationship with any one close can imagine the pride on his face.. Spent hours talking to him never once mentioned this box.We looked through with every coin I pulled there was a story . Maybe one day I have the same moment with my son. We puzzled over 1 particular coin .. I have no clue and he says .. "I open the box son this one coin .. Just as annoying as your mother .. A puzzle son that's what they are.. Bloody puzzle...." Wanted to share a good day at my old mans.
Well Dang! There goes the freaking mystery to that coin box! Now, help the Dad figure out his son's mother!
[emoji38]thanks guys it's been a good day.. "It is a thaler from Prussia, early 19th century" Not sure if I should tell him what it is... The old fox!!
great story. definitely tell him you with the help of others here discovered what that coin is. he will get a kick out of the research that was done on that coin.
They are both wise to each other's little stash boxes, dad with his coins , mum with her notes folded and stashed in her purse .. Not daft either of them.. Your all great people thankyou for your interest in my fathers box.. Even more so you completed his bloody puzzle .. He will appreciate knowing what he's been rubbing his thumb on for years!! Have good week all. Thankyou.[emoji4]
As I read it, it was NOT a comment on his lineage. Simply another attempt to understand a woman. Which will never happen. However, I DID figure out the difference between men & women: A man says something. Then opens a beer. A woman will never say anything in 5 minutes that can be said in 45 minutes.
Let's keep the drama down and lighten up. Thanks. Wow, the coin reminds me of a 19th century coin from Chile that I have. Both look similar in their worn state but are clearly very different as can be seen by the link posted by CMP.
Link was awesome .thank you I'm fully loaded for the next visit .. Can I have you all on speed dial ? There will be more questions that he will ask !! With wise old fox comes the inquisitive ..
You should read the original post again. I was expecting some good quips about mom, turns out the OP did it himself.
