    Best I can make out, there's something going on, probably damage. We can nail it for you with a crisper closeup, that size.

    D mint marks on copper plated cents are known for plating blisters :yack:

    I wish threaders would stop orienting photos 90 degrees out of phase. I don't offer opinions on coins when I have to twist my head to see the coin in the proper orientation. :mad::mad::mad:
