Actually my favorite was Captain Midnight (later redubbed as Jet Jackson). I guess that what you get for being too young to be a real Buck Rogers fan. We got our TV in 1951 so I watched it and whatever else was on.

I unfortunately never met Leonard Nimoy but I did meet William Shatner 8 or 9 years ago at the local county fair. I grew up in Mercer County, Kentucky which has a horse show every year during the county fair. People come all over for this thing, and William Shatner owns a farm an hour or so away and tended to visit the horse show at least every other year. Because my mom and stepdad were running a booth for their business, I got to get in for free and since I lived in the middle of nowhere and couldn't yet drive by myself, I went with them every single night. One night I ran into Shatner at the concession stands. I didn't really know what to say so I just said "hey you're William Shatner" and I think he shook my hand, grabbed his food and walked off but as a nerd who grew up watching Star Trek reruns every night with my dad it was awesome to meet Captain Kirk, even if only for a second.

Unfortunately between college and moving over a thousand miles away I haven't had a chance to visit in a few years but I've heard he still attends the horse show.

... nope, too young... My parents got an Admiral B/W TV in '62, so I was able to watch Kaptain Kangaroo... we had that same B/W TV until '75... then the WONDERS OF COLOR TV!

Well, speaking of Tolkien, I have a couple of items on ebay right now... but I guess I am not allowed to mention that?

You have just given me a reason to go to the horse show... to try to run into Captain Kirk himself! (it's not that far from BGKY, I imagine)....

I always liked BG. Traveled there several times in the 80's.

2-2.5 hours depending on traffic. Go a little early and check out Fort Harrod if you do.

I remember being the original "channel-changer" in our house ... I was the youngest (by far) of four kids => aka, the lil' channel changing monkey-boy!!

=> luckily, I now dominate in Jeopardy 60-70-80's TV trivia!! (my wife merely, goes "oh great!!" whenever those categories appear!!)
