Looks like crud to me now - after taking a second look, there are denticles underneath.
Nice clashing on the reverse, though.
For $8 I'm eyeballing an 1863 IHC on Ebay that has no less than eight die cracks on the reverse, including a retained cud.
No cud, just crud ..........
I can see the clash...but I don't see the weakness in the reverse that I would expect to see from a CUD.
If it was good, it would of been a retained cud ..
You get the best answer award for that one ...
It is crud.
A cud of that size would show weakness of strike opposite on the reverse.
Acetone it and find out!
