@Michael K I really never understood the whole embargo issue but I don't think I will be going to prison for 1 little old cuban coin
I didn't mean that. I am not up on politics and I was just wondering if the embargo was lifted and now it's legal to buy and sell Cuban coins in the US.
One of the coin shops I go to has coins from Cuba. I have bought a few of them for my US Minted world coin collection.
It was never illegal to buy and sell Cuban coins. It can, in some cases, be illegal to import them. eBay is just silly.
Coins prior to 1962 were not the issue for the most part. I was able to complete a "pre 1962" type set. Coins were obtained from ebay, coin shows, dealers in the U.S. and from dealers overseas. The issues are mainly targeted at coins issued after the 1962 embargo that are being imported directly into the U.S. from Cuba. Other countries don't have the same import laws as the U.S. regarding Cuba. That being said, U.S. Customs can and will stop or reject Cuban coins of any year at their discretion. I speak from experience.
