Luckily, I have absolutely zero interest in collecting coins (gold or otherwise) of the biggest criminals in history (Genghis Khan, Hulagu, Timur, Mao Tse-tung, Hitler, Tito, Stalin, etc.), so whether they minted any is of no concern to me, what I don't like is the fact that many great historical figures (Hannibal, Scipio Africanus, etc.) who deserved to have their own coins don't seem to have any.
The greatest mass murderer/ Mao Tse Tung has his mug on Chinese money today. He is worshipped like a God in China/ even though he is responsible for 120M deaths. Stalin came a distant second with 60M victims. Karl Marx stated, "that religion was the opiate of the masses", Communism was a failed experiment that killed 200M from 1918-2024.
And that number doesn't include those killed by communist-caused pollution (communist China has very polluted air, water and soil in most of the country), forced abortions, etc.
Many Roman Emperors/ Dictators were evil. Julius Caesar got his just reward in the senate. He was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Gauls/ Crassus/ Sulla/ Nero/ Septimus Severus all bad. Actually there was a gold coin struck for Hannibal during his occupation of Italy.
More gold coins from the Siscia mint have come to auction: https://www.biddr.com/auctions/mdcmonaco/browse?a=4938&l=5983495 https://www.biddr.com/auctions/mdcmonaco/browse?a=4938&l=5983505
This is an interesting coin: https://www.ma-shops.com/monetarium/item.php?id=10919 Not only does it belong to Nikola Zrinski, but it was minted in the Croatian town of Kostajnica, which I wasn't aware of ever even having a mint!
This (https://www.agora-ancientcoins.com/product/constans-as-augustus/) coin is now up for auction here: https://auctions.thecoincabinet.com/lots/view/4-EKP8E4/constans-av-solidus
A Gold Aureus of Diocletian from the Siscia mint has finally come to auction: https://leunumismatik.com/en/lot/53/196/[53] Unfortunately, it is at Leu Numismatik, which means it is 100% sure that I would have to pay 25% VAT to customs here on top of whatever Leu Numismatik's invoice would amount to, and even the starting price is way too high for me.
https://www.biddr.com/auctions/leu/browse?a=5019&l=6095131 This is also an interesting coin, too bad it isn't in better condition.
Today at the Coin Cabinet auction I won this Duchy of Carinthia Gold Ducat of Karl II (minted in Klagenfurt in 1583): Karl II founded the Croatian city of Karlovac in 1579: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karlovac
