    That was a great writeup Salient, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Goldsworthy book How Roman Fell might be one of the best Roman histories I've read (along with Rubicon). He is fantastic as a writer and historian, which is a rare combination. I would also recommend his book on the Punic wars.
