CRH Nickels - very worn buffalo

I found this today. It’s very worn down and the year is obliterated but it appears to me that this is a type 1-raised ground. I have a Denver in similar condition where the words “five cents” are very worn. From what I’ve read about the type 2:

“The main purpose of the redesign was to place the inscription “FIVE CENTS” within a recessed area so it would not wear away quickly in circulation”.

It’d be cool if it was a RG cause then I’d have a 1913 RG as well as a 1913-D RG.

Any input as always is appreciated.

I'm not sure what RG means, but this is a Type 1 Buffalo Nickel (aka 1913, Type 1)

No need to make up unnecessary acronyms for "Raised Ground", when "Type 1" already covers it.

    Very cool CRH find, BTW.

Happy to help and sorry, but we only call them Type 1 or Type 2. If you want to make it shorter, T1 or T2.

Nicely done. You got one with a full date. I've only found a few.

(Thank you for not assuming it's a key date or an error, too.) ;)

Luck of the draw. Can’t tell you how many rolls of searching it took to find the type 1 and in the very next box I found another Buffalo. Rough shape and kind of beat up and not dated but hey it kind of reminds me of me...rough shape beat up etc. Haha image.jpg image.jpg

Low grade and weak date notwithstanding, I quite like the look of that one. It's almost a CircCam. I'll bet it stuck out like a sore thumb amongst all the modern Jeffs.

You’re right it did stick out. I couldn’t reconcile what I was looking at. Not quite as nice as the CircCam coins in your post but a nice look. Thanks

My dad got this one in his change a few weeks ago. I’ve never found one in the wild. F7B09781-8FD1-42A8-9C47-637C5D3F2C01.jpeg BB913901-D749-4127-BBFA-2816EAFB4D90.jpeg
