cracked 1955 cent

    WOW. I have a 55 with a crack in the same spot. Ill post it later.

    Have the head cracked .

    why is a cracked head 1c piece worth a couple bucks? Is it an error?

    Here are a few crackhead lincolns. The 58d and 55 have multiple cracks in a wedge formation.

    How does this happen ? The copper isnt annealed properly before being struck ?

    Hmm. I never thought these would be considered a die crack. They look completely different from my other ones. The first time I saw my 58d, I thought it was a cud because his forehead is raised a bit.

    I think MS70 had it right, with it being a lamination.

    A cud is a die break on the rim that extends into the field.
