Hey fellas, would you say this is a crack or beginning of a lamination? Regards.

I say die crack, perhaps a small interior die break.

Lamination in my opinion. Could be both with what appears to be a crack also. Wait for the more experienced members. Good luck.

If a die gets a crack, where woud the planchet metal go and what would it look like on a coin - raised on the surface or recessed into it?

Looks like a linear die crack to me.

There is definitely raised and loose metal.
This coin seems to fit the error and not variety aspect. If it is a variety then there must be another like it.

Retained die crack. That means it didn't originate from the rim.

    Lamination in my eye.

IMO, the coin has a lamination. It is not a RAISED, SQUIGGLY, Line (die break) that is a part of the coin's surface. What you see as raised is where the surface is pealing (the lamination) away from the normal surface. The image of the reverse is not necessary as it adds nothing. An image of the coin's edge is also not necessary to ID the error. ;)

I can’t believe it. Wrong again. You would think I’d get a few right. I was all in with eddie
