Hi everybody I have a substantial amount of military tokens acquired by my stepfather. I stumbled on one that is counter marked. Any idea if these are a little bit more valuable? I didn't see a room for tokens so figured I'd ask here. Anybody have an idea what this one might be worth or any online resource to research token values of these types? Thanks.

I don't know much about this token. I think Fort Columbus was the old name for Fort Jay, in New York Harbor, Governors Island ?

IF that is accurate, and authentic, then it would date anywhere between 1806-1904 The name Fort Jay started from 1904 to 1964, from 1966 to 1996 or so the Coast Guard used it as an officers barracks for the Harbor area. I think now it's a national monument. Governors Island National Monument, and taken care of by National Park Services.

I have no idea on the counterstamp, who it is, if it adds or detracts, or the value of it. I looked a bit and didn't find anything on values, or even a "like" token to compare against, probably would require a token specialist, or a military token specialist to get to the nitty gritty, but judging by my difficulty finding info and it's likely age, there might not be too many left hanging around.

Not usually, unless you can attribute the marks to an individual or event.
