Yes, I too love modern counterstamps. I do understand that they don't generally get the respect of the older ones, but back when the older ones were new, they did not get any respect, either! For a very long time I believe that counterstamped coins were considered culls along with poor condition and damaged pieces. Anyone who ignored the conventional wisdom and collected them was indeed building a collection that has real value today. I have given some thought to it and I am pretty sure that except for key or semi-key date coins, any coin with a recognized or interesting counterstamp is worth more (sometimes significantly more) than a similar circulated coin without the "post-mint damage".
