Most of them made to pass as genuine money. And because of that ALL coins, even the most common and lowest denomination, have been counterfeited. Most have the idea that &quot;this coin&quot; really isn&#039;t worth anything so why would anybody counterfeit it ? Well idea right there is exactly why they would - because then that coin would be the easiest to pass as genuine because nobody would expect it. Even the lowliest Lincoln cent there is has been counterfeited.</p><p><br /></p><p>Now one thing that has changed is that there are more fakes produced to fool collectors today than there used to be.
