Counterfeit 1870 Peruvian Sol?

    I found this 1870 Y.J Sol up for auction and something looks off to me about it. The coins/berries spilling out of the cornucopia on the obverse don't match the references I found (all later versions of the coin from the early 20th century), and the surfaces are suspiciously dusty. The condition, to my inexpert eye, also seems way too good to be real. If anyone has a similar coin they know to be authentic (or fake), please post some pictures of it! I would be very grateful.

    I think it at least matches the two examples on MA-Shops that I could find.

    You absolutely cannot compare this coin to other similar ones from decades later. The Peru Libertad coinage is known to have NUMEROUS varieties. The quality control at the mint must have been awful as these coins come with numerous overdates, over mint marks, differing number of berries, misspellings, backward letters, incuse and in relief letters, differing style numbers, different sized letters, etc. Many of these varieties are not listed in the catalogs.
