I am very interested in the English counter stamped 8 Real coins from the 1810-20's The whole "head of a fool on the neck of an ass" is great history. My question; I have seen a big price range in these counter stamped coins. I have also seen a few different "King George III" stamps. Are there various stamps? Or a lot of counterfeits? The picture below is one that sold on Ebay, that I was fretting over. It sold for $395. The price was almost too good. Or not. Thanks for any help.

In addition to fakes made to fool collectors, there are those made to pass as currency in the day. I think one of those would be the one for me.
