I bought a world coin lot of mainly moderns. One coin in a 2x2 is in extremely bad condition. That is not the problem. The problem is that the previous owner years ago had identified the piece as GARAITES VEGILUS. I have been unable to find any ruler of that name. Can anyone suggest a different spelling that I could look up and compare to this coin? Thank you. Size is about AE4. Appearance is similar to uncleaned or dug roman.

post a pic obverse and reverse, preferably outside the holder.

This is a featureless uncleaned AE4 slug in the holder. Any photo or scan would show nothing to identify. The words look latin to me but nothing similar found on Wikipedia. That is why I asked for suggestions.

You'd be surprised at just how identifiable a featureless slug can be with a pic of even a couple of Latin letters..

Still be a good idea to post pics. If it has letters, we might be able to get a id.

The words I'm talking about are on the 2x2. Can't see anything on the coin.
