Received the correct piece yesterday. My PC is having issues but I am up for the moment so I wanted to share this image at full size. With the correct piece the seller included a photo of a spider press from "Graphics of the Americas 99". What a cool photo - cannot wait to get it framed. Hope you enjoy! Darryl
That is a great vignette! Glad everything finally worked out. That photo however is awesome! Is it a historical print or a reproduction? Can you tell what notes the woman is inspecting from the photo in hand? Might be able to date that image by that uncut sheet of notes. Very cool image.
Thanks Krispy, It is a way cool bonus! The photo is a professional reproduction and has 1862 Spider Press sponsored by PAF on the reverse. BR ~ Darryl BTW: you cannot tell what is on the printed sheet other than two portraits of men. You cannot make out who they are.
Very nice Vignette & bonus photograph ,I see why you wanted this over the wrong vignrtte ,nice pick-up.
Thanks guys! This sample sheet has much more complex pieces and is overall a more eye catching example of the ABNC works. Picked up another doozy on Ebay today. For all of those train lovers I cannot wait to show it off! BR Darryl
While I still have not managed to get the proof framed I have picked up some other interesting things. One of those items is the 1976 ABNC report. How does that tie into this thread you ask? The first inside page is where the proof was used and the last page is the incorrect proof I received when this all started. The front and back cover are also really nice prints. Hope you enjoy! You may have to wait a little for the close up of the Eagle to load as I left it a little larger to see the details. Sorry about the shadow at the bottom. Put the book back in the plastic wrap before looking at how they turned out. Best Regards ~ Darryl
Man! That Annual Report is super super cool! I love the blue ink and the cover page with all the sights around NYC, that's the ABNCo bldg. in the center vignette too! (link is not my pic) and those numeral pages are sweet! Are those printed on translucent vellum? What is written under the eagle's roost? Anything noteworthy? I'm very, very impressed as usual with the might ABNCo works.
I love the blue ink too! Yes to the vellum. Here is a close up of the words. Thanks for comments! Darryl
Darryl, I finally got around to scanning the other vellum vignette sheets I have from ABNC: http://www.cointalk.com/t165585/ I've also been having fun scanning thematic vignettes from my Commemorative Panels collection: http://www.cointalk.com/t160644/ Thought you might like to know the lady-with-flag vignette appears on CP81, the Peace Bridge panel. There's also a really nice ABNC (maybe Canadian Bank Note) engraving of the Canadian crest. I'll post them both here.
