    Metals melt at different temperatures and metal recyclers know how to separate most of them easily. Same with Steel mills where they throw in mass amounts of autos and separate the different items. For example tons of slag is skimmed off the Steel and just dumped since it is primarily Aluminum. Just as in most liquids, the heavier metals sink and the lighter ones float to the top.

    OUCH. I couldn't even imagine a razor blade made with soft metals. The ones we have now wear out to soon.

    I don't think it is that simple. Aluminum is especially difficult which is why it was once more expensive than gold.
