    I'm trying to recall this from my college chemistry course (1959).
    Seems to me there's a chart that shows what can replace what.
    EMF (Electro Motive Force?)

    You're on the right track. EMF is electromotive force, but that's just "volts". The specific concepts for metal replacement are:

    Single Displacement Reaction

    Reactivity Series

    Electrochemical Series
