Copper nickel?

    I understand that its common for coins to tone differently over time, and its totally possible that someone copper plated this, but the toning looks too close to a warn copper penny to me. Hard to tell on camera, but any thoughts? Found in coin roll and its a 1958D

    Looks like a nickel found in the elements. Environmental damage.

    most of the nickels that I've found metal detecting looked like that, or more so
