Hi. I believe I have a copper dime. Does anyone know of the value of one, copper showing front and back?
I read they are rare and valuable.
Is there a way to check if mine is true and valuable.. and does anyone have photos to share of the real deal? Thank you kindly

Not copper dimes. They are Environmental Toning damage to the clad layers.
Exposure to the elements will darken the clad.
    Nickels also!

Here are my metal detected examples

Wow. Thanks for the gallery! Very nice. So there's no such thing as a dime struck on copper planchet with clad?

Only if they are true Missing clad layer and those usually only happen on one side of a clad coin.

No. You can't strike a Dime onto a Copper Cent planchet because it is bigger than a dime. It won't fit into the striking chamber because of the bigger size.

Here are examples of missing clad layer on one side from my collection - 004.jpg 607580-1.jpg 2593338-001.JPG 3019836-003.JPG

Environmental damage to your dime. The blank copper wouldn't fit into the coining chamber so it can only be this. Not an error and not copper.

And if you DID manage to find a dime missing the clad layer on both sides, it would be very underweight and probably a poor strike due to the lower striking pressure from the reduced thickness.
