Looks as if there is going to be another go at a bartering currency similar to that tried by the Norfed Liberty Dollar. They are careful not to denominate the coin with $ symbols and at this time it seems to be limited to merchants in Cape Cod. It's not an unprecedented concept. Many communities in pre-WWII USA had a local currency or script. (usually issued by the main employer in town) They are starting with copper but say the will also produce gold & silver coins. At the moment, one 1 1oz copper coin = $1.54. (very smart of them to do this) Cape Cod C Shell Copper Coin
Thanks for the heads-up :thumb: I just ordered twenty (20) from this site. Unfortunately, I also saw they had silver 1 Oz .999 coins available for $47.50 so I ordered two of those, also...without looking first. It turns out that those silver rounds are not made by them...they're just generic "circulated" silver rounds. :so-sadoh well...I should have looked before I leaped). Note: Don't be thrown off by the high S&H. The initial prices shown (in the hundreds of $$) isn't USPS. If you go USPS and order over $40, S&H is free.
