Cool Early Wheat Cents with Various Metal Flakes Rolled In

    1. 1909 VDB with nickel flakes.
    2. 1912-S with gold flakes.
    2. 1919 with either aluminum, tin, or silver flakes.

    All likely embedded into the planchet metal as rollers pressed the strips to their desired thickness.

    I’m going to guess this is possibly from de-lamination from the previous rolled stock?

    Looks like someone pried the pieces of gold out of the 1912 S. LOL Very interesting errors.

    I don't think so. Even using a wooden toothpick would leave scratches.
