It was hard to keep track of the countdown. The answer has been given. Drumrool please........The first to answer was TYLER G. Congratulations!!!!!! I loved the spirited competition so K2COINS will also win a second place prize for answering also within a dollar before I named a winner. The total was $12.75.
Amazing contest, i still cant believe that you're grandfather bought 12 silver dollars for just $12.75!!! I wish i had the chance to do that now-a-days.... and congratulations to TYLER G.
I found this page in an old Star coin book that actually showed all of the coins that he bought. A total of twelve coins, eleven Trade dollars and an 1851 type one gold dollar. These coins have never been graded by a TPG, but I put the Trades in a MS/PR63-64 range and a MS-65 on the gold dollar. Imagine how big your collection would be if you could buy coins at those prices.
And thanks for the second prize it really means a lot to have something to get my collection going, it might even spark a new collecting habits in my collection!!!
I really have no intention of selling any of these coins so It really wouldn't do any good. I get coins graded if I intend to make a trade or sell, but otherwise I like them raw. I do mostly buy graded coins though.
The prize arrived today Thank you so much once again for the prize and for the contest! I enjoyed it!!! -Kyle
