Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

Do you take coin trades?;) because I have a lot of "junk" silver. I was at school when the US mint sold out, I tried to get there, had my mother's card and everything! But I got in trouble for having somebody else's credit card and almost got arrested for theft. I wasn't able to get my set because of the darned administration at my school. I let my hopes down and bought coins.:(

Wow. Excellent! Here is my sad tale... Been a while since lurking here on CT. I decided to see what was happening and to my shock most topics were on this 25th ASE anniversary. I went online and to my other coin sources. Alas, the coin set was rocketing through the roof! "How had I missed this?!" I am on the US Mint website a few times a year and purchase every one ounce ASE! I went to my best local coin dealer to get his view... he too had missed the boat. I now I have to be patient and wait for the 100,000+ mintage to work its way through and hopefully prices subside enough where it becomes reasonable to purchase.

    $325 is a bargain

Hey Flyers10 ... you can remove my name from the drawing ... I ended up buying a set from cointalk member Vess1, who PM'd me earlier today after reading my post. This is good -- so now the chance to buy a cheaper set can go to someone who is a bit more financially constrained. Thanks again for running this contest! I commend you.

In terms of donating to a YN or needy collector, I am running this contest for a free Large Cent giveaway ... http://www.cointalk.com/t195017-2/#post1302874 ... The winner will be determined by LIKES given, so if you all want to read the thread and like a few contestants of your choosing, that would be great.

flyers10: I wasn't able to order the set early enough because I had my grandsons over. By the time I was able to connect it was 6:24P and the mint has backordered my set for 11/28. My order was #38394xxx. I have a feeling I'll be getting a cancellation email. I've been collecting AE since they first came out in 1986. There was a time when we gave them out as gifts because they were so beautiful. I would love to have the opportunity of having this beautiful set to give to one of my grandsons.

Thanks for the contest flyers10, Very Nice of you and I might as well toss my name in the hat.

I had to work that day so at break and lunch I tried to order but with no luck at all. I thought well I will be home by 3:00PM so I can maybe get my order in then.

Next thing you know they tell me that we will be working 12 hours so when I got home at 6:30PM, I got my order in at 6:47PM.

That got me a spot on the waiting list and a couple of weeks later a e-mail telling me they are sold out.

I think the Eagles are a beautiful coin and I would like the chance to get a set of them. Honest answer. Thanks again.

Thank you again for the contest. I have a strong feeling that my "story" won't be nearly as creative as others. As you already know, I'm in Hawaii. As such, we're basically guaranteed to miss out on anything that's based upon a release time sell out.

Anyway, on 27 October, I was trying to sort out with my in-laws how to deal with the flooding that was threatening their house in Bangkok. I hadn't expected to get my order in, but I actually didn't know for certain until 29 October that I had missed the ASE sale. It just wasn't anywhere near top-of-mind. I then decided to check on eBay. I blanket bid $500 on every set that I saw. I won none.

So, that's my story. It's not a very good one, I must admit, but it's the true one. :)

Good luck and congratulations to whoever ends up winning this awesome prize!

    Thanks again for the chance.

    Cheers!

Thanks Green. My mother-in-law contracted something from the water there, even though it was filtered and boiled, so I purchased some LifeStraws for the family. Hopefully those work better.

I know this is a complete off-topic thing, but the LifeStraw is an interesting product. It costs ~$2-$5 to produce, and the primary purchasers of the straws are NGOs and national governments for developing nations. Basically, you can drink out of any freshwater source, and it destroys 99.9% of bacteria. The personal version (which is the version I purchased - 500 baht ea, US retail is $20) doesn't block viruses, but they apparently make a "family" version (retails for $100, but isn't available in the US/Canada) which does block viruses. It's a great idea, and I do hope that they work. If I understand right, a portion of the sale goes toward purchasing Lifestraws for the flood victims, as well, so that's an extra bonus. :)
