Hi, The coloring is too consistent . It appears to have been dipped. I'll bet the edges don't even show any toning which is another sign of dipping. That part of course is just a guess but many coins that are this consistent in appearance have been cleaned at least by dipping. If the coin were looked at even a few times and held correctly by the edge of the coin, there would be some toning at least on the edge. People did not seal these coins in airtight containers back in 1900 so it is darn near impossible for a coin to be that consistently colored. PCGS may grade it if they deem the cleaning not to be too harsh. I just think the cleaning is obvious and they will BB the coin. Just one man's opinion though. Have Fun, Bill
Bill, I respect your opinion. Taken into consideration. However, he said it's a scan so.. Zane- Ms-63 PL.. no DMPL..
Just my HO, but NGC and ANACS do alot more justice to Morgans, and i think they're both cheaper than PCGS.
zaneman, Knowing that New Orleans minted Morgans usually have weak strikes and may get slightly higher grades than a Morgan of similar condition minted at Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco, I think that it will come back a MS-65 DMPL even with the slight rim dings! If it were not for the rim dings, then I think it would get a MS-66. So my answer is MS-65 DMPL. Frank
Hey Guys, just an update, I should get my grades by this coming Friday I believe. If I don't post a winner, someone please PM and remind me. Thanks!
