I've been to auctions B4 but never a coin auction. The worst auction was when we had to auction off my grandma and grampas estate. The turn out was horible and the total haul was no where near what we were hoping for, especially since there was so much unused stuff there. Gramps would never use the new until he had broken and fixed the old at least 20 times.
I've never been to a live auction. I'm afraid I might have to scratch my ear and end up with a second mortgage. :hammer:
Beleive it or not that is the single most bisggest fear of new comers at auctions. We are pretty good about knowing when you are scratching your nose and bidding though. I just wish all of you were near me so you could come out and enjoy the auction especially those of you who have never been to one before.
I do like to go to auctions but I find some of the those bidding a little too aggressive and pushy. They sort of ruin it for the rest of us. I had one run-in with a guy that was rude and felt he was more important than everyone else in the room. He talked down every lot and never ended up buying anything. He single-handedly brought down the whole event.
yep been to many acutions. Last one i went to a guy up in the front row bought 90% of all the gold coins available at very high prices. Money was no problem for him and i walked away with a shut out!
