Beautiful coin zumbly, great detail, excellent buy. Would you believe I still don't own a campgate of that sort yet........you would expect better of some body that collects architecture.
Z that is a stunner. I have yet to nab an argenteus in any shape or form. Nearest thing I can contribute is this doors open campgate. Constantine II (Caesar) Coin: Bronze AE3 CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C - laureate, draped & cuirassed bust left VIRTVS CAESS - campgate with 5 layers, four turrets, star above, open doors, S to left F to right Exergue: Mint: Arles (327 AD ) Wt./Size/Axis: 2.98g / 20mm / - References: RIC VII Arles 315
I certainly agree that the good silver argentii are great coins and something I would love to have. I do seequite a few that strike me as poor silver and many with broken/chipped flans suggesting there was a quick fall from the high levels tat started the issue. My only argentius is from Maximinus II and is poor billon from Trier.
